Body Guard

Load limiter, arm movement , rotation management and dynamic weighing for industrial loaders, railway loaders and excavators

The device acts as a supervisor, playing a key role in ensuring that all material handling operations are carried out without the risk of the machine tipping over by limiting its load capacity. This guarantees the operator’s safety and prevents costly damage to the machine, equipment, and handled materials.
The device’s control software includes standalone licensed modules: boom movement limiter, load limiter, rotation management, and dynamic weighing.
The system is designed in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and complies with the UNI EN ISO 13849-1 PL c standard.

Date, time, errors and warnings

Arm movement limiter

Important for work in enclosed spaces and under high voltage. The system takes the entire geometry of the machine into account, consequently if a boom is blocked when reaching its limit, this does not prevent the operator from continuing with the other work operations!

Position of the penetrator arm (PEN)
Exceeding the extremes of the scale bar indicate that the Horizontal Movement Limitation values have been exceeded.
The vertical slider provides an indication of the position of the lift arm (SOL)
Exceeding the extremes of the extremes of the scale bar indicate that the values of the Vertical Movement Limitation have been exceeded.

Dynamic weighing

Dynamic weighing is a very popular option and the BODY GUARD system allows dynamic weighing without stopping the loader ‘s lift arm. The great advantage offered by the system, apart from the accuracy which is +/-1% to +/-3% on the overall load, is the robustness of the system, which is NOT affected by the shocks that are inevitable in the daily work of the machine. When using dynamic weighing, the LOAD AND MOVEMENT LIMITERS remain active and regularly in operation.

Rotation management

The BODY GUARD system can be equipped with the rotation management function, an important feature for working safely near areas or zones where the vehicle must not interfere. Based on the settings made, the system blocks the possibility of rotation of the vehicle in the interdicted area , preventing interference or the possibility of danger to operators, vehicles or property. This function is particularly sought after for vehicles working in a railway environment.

Maintenance limits

The maintenance limits page shows the number of hours missing from the listed checks, The status in ‘LIMIT’ (flashing in reverse) indicates that the ‘ LIMITHOURS’ value of the object on which the intervention is to be carried out has reached ‘0’. After the intervention, the field for ‘ LIMITHOURS’ is set with the new amount of hours. When a maintenance lite is reached, the instrument will indicate in negative the hours passed since the exceeding the limit and in the status column the word LIMIT.

Global control over the machine

With the BODY GUARD system it is possible to control all the specific functions of the machine on which it is installed, interfacing in real time with the engine control unit. The errors, messages and warnings managed and displayed are those of the specific machine. Display of errors and alarms related to the sensors and inputs of the system.
